Montagu’s Gusto – Murray Hill

I was invited to try a bite at this cozy artisan eatery in Murray Hill. When you walk in, you notice this fresh display of ingredients. For me, it’s speaks to the food’s freshness when it’s upfront hanging out for you to see, and everything did tasted incredibly fresh. From the salads to the handcrafted speciality sandwiches, everything is locally sourced and also reasonably priced. I MEEANNNN check out that steak sandwich, they definitely hooked it up on the steak. Finding a loaded fresh steak sandwich in New York City for under $13.00 is a deal you gotta be a part of. This place is a must go.

Pizzarte – Midtown Manhattan

One of my favorite restaurants in the city for sure. Every time my mom comes into town, we have to go here. She loves this place just as much as me, if not MORE. From their apps, to their pastas, to of course, their pizzas, you really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu… and trust me, I’ve about had it all.

I try to eat healthy everyday, most of the time; wholesome and fresh ingredients. But its not everyday when I have time to cook and on some days, I just don’t feel like it. I wanted to share Cook Unity because they deliver made from scratch fresh meals, and all you have to do is heat them up. What I really love about them is the ease of choosing from 150 personalized meals, IT IS SO FUN! There is so much variety as well as an in-depth nutritional guide provided for each meal. I love ordering great tasting wholesome meals and have them delivered right to my door.

Creme Brûlée

INGREDIENTS:

1 quart heavy cream

1 vanilla bean, split and scraped

1 cup of vanilla sugar (I didn’t have any so I substituted it with 6 ounces of vanilla extract and 10 ounces of sugar) same thing right?

6 large egg yolks

2 quarts hot water

Preheat the oven to 315 degrees, put the cream into a sauce pan, split the vanilla bean down the middle and scrape the insides in and set to medium high heat and bring to boil. Set for 15 minutes and let cool. While that’s cooking, whisk together sugar and egg yolks until blended. Add the cream while mixing. Then pour into ramekins and place them on baking pan. Pour hot water into the pan so it comes halfway up the side of the ramekins, preventing the cream from sticking. Bake until Creme brûlée is set but still a lil giggly in the center, about 55 minutes. Remove them and refrigerate for at least 2 hours prior to browning the top. Generously sprinkle sugar evenly across the top. Using a torch melt the sugar until it hardens to form a crispy top. Allow to set for at least 5 minutes before YA ENJOY!

Deviled Eggs

Boil the eggs in hot water. I boiled mine for about 8 minutes to get a soft by firm yolk. After boiling, cut in half, scoop out the yolk in the middle and add into a bowl with mayonnaise, mustard seeds, red wine vinegar, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes to taste. Crush and blend then scoop back into the middle of the egg. Put in fridge and let chill.
READY TO EAT!
I like to top mine with smoked salmon. Don’t judge, Try it!

Ginger Carrot Soup

Cook carrots in a pan with olive oil and salt until tender. I like mine crispy on the outside. In a separate pan add cut ginger, garlic and onion, drizzle with olive oil and turmeric. Cook then add the diced apple while gradually adding vegetable broth. Be careful not to add too much or your soup will be liquidy! Cut and add the tender carrots, leaving one on the side to garnish at the end. Blend ingredients in order to get a creamy consistency! Then top with remaining carrot, sesame seeds, salt, pepper, and turmeric to taste.
